Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's volleyball team split a set of matches today as they lost a tough battle to New Jersey City University before defeating Manhattanville University. With the one win and one loss, the Roadrunners now stand at 5-6 overall on the year.
Ramapo 1 – New Jersey City 3: (23-25, 17-25, 30-28, 23-25)
After falling behind two sets to none the Roadrunners battled back in set three to earn a 30-28 win. It wasn't enough as the Gothic Knights proved to be too much in the fourth set earning a slim two-point win, taking the match, 3-1.
Brady Cascone led the Roadrunners with 18 kills and
Reece Kirchofer collected 14 as the team hit 53-144 (.181) with 27 errors.
JoJo Meyer dished out 51 assists and Cascone earned the double-double picking up ten digs. Kirchofer grabbed eight digs of his own and Meyer added seven.
Jan Tracz put away four service aces in the loss.
For NJCU, Matt Peralta led the team with 22 kills and Marcus Pardaise recorded 16 as the team hit a combined 61-129 (.310) with 21 errors. Alex Casais assisted on 55 points and Anthony Matute led on defense with 14 digs.
Ramapo 3 – Manhattanville 0: (25-21, 25-21, 25-16)
In the second match-up of the day the Roadrunners swept the Valiants earning their first win in the Skyline Conference. The Roadrunners defeated Manhattanville collecting a combined 38 kills on 105 (.181) attempts with 19 errors. Kirchofer led the team with 12 kills and Cascone added ten while Meyer assisted on 29 points. Meyer led on defense with 12 digs and
Sean McNally added ten while Tracz put away four assisted blocks.
For Manhattanville, Joe Gandarillas led the way with seven kills and Emil Medrano added six of his own while the team hit a combined 24-96 (.042) with 20 errors. Idris Idris dished out 21 assists and picked up a team leading seven digs.
The Roadrunners return to action on Friday, February 28
th when they travel to Purchase College for a 6pm match.
