Ewing, NJ: The College of New Jersey women's basketball team won their fourth straight game with a 76-43 NJAC win over Ramapo College this afternoon at Packer Hall. The Lions move to 15-5 overall and 11-2 in the conference while the Roadrunners move to 2-18 overall and 1-12 in the league.
Ramapo opened the game on a 6-2 run with all three baskets coming from Allison Ahern. A 14-4 run sparked by a three-pointer from Grace Kowalski down the stretch of the first quarter gave the Lions a 16-10 lead heading into the second. In the second Ramapo would cut it to two on a three-pointer from
Lauren Flatt with 5:35 on the clock before TCNJ stretched it back to 11 on a 9-0 run capped off with a three-pointer form Arianna McCleod, 28-17. Ahern added a basket for the Roadrunners before the Lions finished the quarter on a 7-0 run to take a 35-19 lead at the half. TCNJ outscored Ramapo 23-10 in the third and 18-14 in the fourth for the NJAC victory.
TCNJ tallied 12 three-pointers in the game including three each from Cassidy Brown and Nina Branchizio. Brook McFadden and Brown each scored 12 points to lead the Lions. McFadden finished 6-7 from the field and grabbed a team high eight rebounds while adding three steals and three assists. Branchizio posted nine points, four assists and four steals while Amanda Baylock posted eight points. The Lions shot 48% (28-58) from the field, 42% (12-28) from the three-point line and 66% (8-12) from the free throw line.
Ahern led the Roadrunners with 14 points while she added two rebounds, one steal and one block.
Jocelyn Huancaya finished 5-5 from the free throw line and tallied nine points with three steals and two assists. Emma Carwright contributed with ten points off the bench along with two blocks, two rebounds and one steal. Flatt posted eight points including two three-pointers while she grabbed five rebounds and two assists. Ramapo shot 37% (16-43) from the field, 36% (4-11) from the three-point line and 100% (7-7) from the free throw line.
Ramapo will host Montclair State University on Wednesday, Feb. 5th in NJAC action at 5:30pm.
