WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS TO STEVENS ON THE ROAD

Hoboken, NJ:  The Stevens Institute of Technology women's basketball team defeated Ramapo today in non-conference action, 60-29. The Ducks move to 2-0 overall while the Roadrunners now stand at 1-1 on the season.

The Ducks built an 11-point lead in the first quarter which ballooned into a 20-point lead with 4:28 left in the second quarter. Dorothy Loffredo drained a jumper off a pass from Olivia Schubiger for a 20-7 score. The Ducks held Ramapo to three points in the second as they took a 31-9 lead into halftime. At the half, Leyla Castro led both teams with 11 points in 15 minutes of action including finishing 2-5 from the three-point line. In the third quarter, the Ducks once again held the Roadrunners under 10 points as Ramapo tallied eight in the third and 12 in the fourth. Stevens posted 15 in the third and 14 in the fourth, earning them a 60-29 victory. The Ducks defense forced 23 Roadrunner turnovers which led to 21 points for Stevens. Three players scored in double figures for the Ducks as Isabella Duval posted 12 points, finishing with four three-pointers. Castro finished with 11 points, two rebounds, two assists and one steal while Ceejay Thomas collected ten points five rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block. Dorothy Loffredo led the way with 10 rebounds while she added four points, four assists, one steal and one block. The Ducks shot 39% (23-59) from the field, 43% (10-23) from beyond the three-point line and perfect from the charity stripe (4-4)

For the Roadrunners, Vanessa Kohler tallied eight points, five rebounds and three steals while Jocelyn Huancaya collected seven points, two steals and four rebounds. Ava Burke contributed with five points and five rebounds. The Ramapo defense forced the Ducks to commit 22 turnovers in the game which led to 10 points for the Roadrunners. Ramapo shot 22% (11-50) from the field and 36% (7-19) from the free throw line while they did not convert from the three-point line.  

The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, Nov. 15th when they host John Jay College at the Bradley Center at 1:00 PM.
