Union, NJ: The Ramapo College men's soccer team took down Kean University on the road tonight, 3-1. The Roadrunners improved to 8-3-1 overall and 1-2 in the NJAC while the Cougars drop to 1-9-2 overall, 0-2-1 in the conference.
With the win, head coach
DJ Pinton earned his 200th career coaching victory. In the first half,
Gianfranco Ponce scored his first goal of the game to put the Roadrunners up 1-0 in the 25th (24:30) minute. Late in the first, Kean tied the game with a goal from Thomas Cortes (42:41) before Ramapo added two goals in the second half.
Dylan Perez took a pass from
Luigi Portillo in the 64th minute (63:06) and hit the back of the net with his third goal of the season to secure the game-winner, 2-1. Portillo earned his team leading fifth assist. Ponce would add an insurance goal in the 71st (70:50) as Ramapo was awarded a penalty kick, 3-1.
Zachary Natt posted five saves in goal for the Roadrunners while Jaxon Mast recorded six for the Cougars. Ramapo tallied 16 shots including nine on goal while Kean posted 15 shots and six on goal. The Cougars held a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks for the game.
Ramapo returns to action on Saturday, October 11th when they host the College of New Jersey at the Athletic Center Turf Field at 1:00 PM.
