Coach DJ Pinton enters his 22nd season as head coach of the Ramapo College Men’s Soccer program.  In his 21 years as head coach Pinton has compiled a 192-136-47 overall record.

Through the 2023 season, Coach Pinton has mentored 83 student-athletes who earned NJAC All-Conference honors including 4x NJAC First Team honoree (2009-2012) and two-time NJAC Player of the Year Rob Santaniello. Joe Fala, who owns the program record in goals scored in a season (27), was named NJAC Player of the Year in 2018 and 2019. Patrick Jagodzinski (2006) and Josh Schaffer (2019, 2020, 2021) each earned NJAC Goalkeeper of the Year while Ryan Lahey (2007), Justin Charkowski (2019), Mark Buckel (2020) and Osbin Mendez (2022) all earned NJAC Defensive Player of the Year. Pinton’s peers named him NJAC Coach of the Year three times during his career (2019, 2020, 2022). Following the 2024 season, Gianfranco Ponce was named NJAC Rookie of the Year while Kyle Allen, Jack Hosmer and Jake Szatkowski all earned NJAC All-Conference honors.

The Roadrunners won the 2020-2021 NJAC Tournament Championship with a perfect 3-0 record in the tournament including a 1-0 shutout victory over Montclair State University in the Championship match. This was the first NJAC Title in program history while Ramapo earned their third straight NJAC Tournament appearance. The Roadrunners earned a #7 ranking in the final United Soccer Coaches Top 25 poll.

Coach Pinton served as an assistant to the men’s program for four seasons (2000-2003) before taking over the reins at the start of the 2004 season. A three-year member of the Roadrunner soccer team (1995-1998), Pinton left his mark as one of the top players in program history.  In his first year with the program, the team reached its first ever post-season berth qualifying for the ECAC Tournament, falling short in the semi-finals.  In his second season he helped guide the men’s soccer team to a 16-5-1 record and the programs first ever post-season championship winning the ECAC title.  That same year, Pinton received the first of his consecutive NJAC First Team All-Conference honors, and was named the 1997 Ramapo College Athlete of the Year.   In his final season as a Roadrunner, Pinton helped lead the team to its first ever NCAA Tournament appearance and collected Mid-Atlantic Regional All-American honors on top of his all-conference and all-state honors.  In 2006 Coach Pinton was inducted into the Ramapo College Athletic Hall of Fame for his tremendous contributions on the soccer field.

Coach Pinton spent time overseas training with Italian professional club A.C. Arezzo under then Head Coach Serse Cosmi.  In his spare time, he is also involved with youth soccer serving as the Director of the Cosmos Soccer Camps and has coached several club teams.
