Mahwah, NJ: Ramapo College head softball coach
Bridgette Quimpo was inducted into the USA Softball of New Jersey Hall of Fame on Sunday, October 19th.
Quimpo was honored by USA Softball of New Jersey for her playing career with ASA teams such as the NJ Divas. Quimpo and the NJ Divas won the 2003 ASA National Championship. She is also a two-time ASA First Team All-American and earned a try-out with the U.S. Olympic Team ahead of the 2004 Summer Olympics.
"I am humbled to be recognized for this honor as there are so many people that have also given so much to this game. I want to thank the Hall of Fame Committee and congratulate all the inductees. This award has allowed me to reflect on my entire softball career as a player, coach, and clinician and I would not be here without my teammates, coaches, and players throughout my entire softball journey. I want to thank USA Softball for allowing me and millions of athletes be able to compete in the sport we all love," said Quimpo.
Quimpo has excelled in the sport at every level she has been a part of. She is a graduate of Carteret High School where she helped lead the team to the 1996 Central Jersey Group II State Championship. She was an assistant coach for the Ramblers in 2002 where she helped guide the program to another State Championship. Quimpo was inducted into the Carteret High School Hall of Fame in 2008. As a student-athlete at the University of South Carolina Aiken she still ranks in numerous statistical career categories including third all-time in career games played (204) and ninth all-time in career hits (160).
In the collegiate coaching ranks, Quimpo has amassed 414 career coaching victories. She began her career as the head coach at New Jersey City University where she spent 10 years with the Gothic Knights before taking over the helm of the Roadrunners ahead of the 2013 season. Quimpo has helped guide Ramapo to seven seasons with 25+ wins and to six NCAA Tournaments including the 2017 NCAA Ithaca Regional Championship. The team has also qualified for the New Jersey Athletic Conference Tournament every season under Quimpo while they won the program's first NJAC Tournament Title in 2015.
"The Ramapo College community is very proud of Coach Quimpo. She has dedicated her life to teaching her student-athletes lifelong lessons that will carry on with them throughout their careers. She has proven track record of being a leader not only as a softball coach, but someone who our student-athletes, coaches, and staff rely on," said Ramapo College Athletic Director, Jan Koslowsky.
The USA Softball of New Jersey Hall of Fame was established in 1966 and honors those who have played a major role in the growth and development and who have made outstanding contributions to the game of ASA softball in the State of NJ.
