Mahwah, NJ: The New Jersey City University women's basketball team earned a NJAC win over Ramapo College tonight, 72-46. The Gothic Knights move to 6-10 overall and 5-5 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners now stand at 2-15 overall and 1-9 in the conference.
NJCU held the Roadrunners under 10 points in the first and third quarters while Ramapo posted a game high 17 points in the second quarter. The Gothic Knights held a 33-25 lead heading into halftime before adding 21 points in the third and 18 points in the fourth. Three players scored in double figures for NJCU including Elyssa Russo who made five three-pointers in the game as she finished with 15 points. The team was led by Destiny Battle who tallied 16 points along with six assists and four steals. Na'Tori Postell added 15 points while Kendra Rigo and Autumn John each collected eight rebounds to lead the team while they also each scored eight points apiece. NJCU shot 41% (28-68) from the field, 36% (11-30) from the three-point line and 71% (5-7) from the free throw line.
Three Roadrunners also scored in double figures in tonight's game as they were led by
Alison Ahern with 12 points.
Lauren Flatt and
Emma Cartwright each tallied ten points while Flatt pulled down five rebounds. The team shot 41% (18-43) from the field, 20% (2-10) from the three-point line and 66% (8-12) from the three-point line.
Ramapo returns to action on Saturday when they host Rutgers-Camden University in a NJAC game at 1:00 PM.
