Mahwah, NJ: The Moravian University men's soccer team handed the Roadrunners their first loss of the season as the Greyhounds came back with a 2-1 win. The Greyhounds earn their first victory and now stand at 1-0-2 overall while Ramapo College is now 1-1 overall.
Gianfranco Ponce took a pass from
Jalal Khalifeh in the eighth minute (7:38) of action as he hit the back of the net to give the Roadrunners an early 1-0 lead. This was Ponce's team leading fourth goal of the season. Five minutes into the second half (50:24), Moravian got on the board as Reed Sturza scored his second goal of the season off a pass from Hunter Shay. The eventual game-winner for the Greyhounds came in the 67th minute when Tyler King scored his first goal of the year with an assist from Giuseppe Propato.
Nikoali Matthews recorded six saves for Ramapo while Casey Prajzner collected three saves for the Greyhounds. Ramapo tallied eight shots including four on goal along with eight corner kicks. Moravian posted 18 shots with eight on goal along with 13 corner kicks.
Ramapo returns to action on Saturday, September 7th when they travel to Cairn University for a non-conference game at 7pm. This will be the Highlander's season opener.
