Mahwah, NJ: The Kean University women's basketball team defeated Ramapo College tonight in NJAC action, 63-29. The Cougars move to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in the conference while the Roadrunners now stand at 1-7 overall and 0-2 in the NJAC.
The Roadrunners kept it close in the first quarter of the game before Kean held Ramapo to just three points in the second quarter. Kean took a 31-11 lead into halftime while the Cougars poured in 20 points in the third and 12 in the fourth en-route to the NJAC road victory. The Kean defense forced 29 Ramapo turnovers which led to 22 points for the Cougars. Brittany Graff led the Cougars with 17 points while Riley Ahrens added 12 points and four rebounds. Erika Mercedes and Maddison Vaughn each pulled down six rebounds and scored four points. Kean shot 37% (24-64) from the field, 23% (8-34) from the three-point line and 50% (7-14) from the free throw line.
Emma Cartwright led the Roadrunners with nine points while adding five rebounds.
Lauren Flatt added six points and a team high seven rebounds while
Jocelyn Huancaya posted five points four rebounds. Ramapo shot 21% (10-47) from the floor in the game, 33% (1-3) from the three-point line and 57% (8-14) from the free throw line. The Ramapo defense forced 15 Kean turnovers.
Ramapo returns to action on Saturday, Dec. 7th when they travel to Rutgers-Camden University for a NJAC game at 1:00 PM.
