Montclair, NJ: The Montclair State University women's basketball team defeated Ramapo College tonight in NJAC action, 78-30. The Red Hawks move to 6-2 overall and 2-2 in the conference while the Roadrunners now stand at 1-9 overall and 0-4 in the NJAC.
MSU held Ramapo to under ten points in the first three quarters of action before the Roadrunners tallied 15 points in the fourth quarter. Three Red Hawks scored in double figures as Alyssa Craigwell led the team with 18 points while Amanda Castro added 12 and Shannon Hughes posted ten off the bench. Madison Marcotte pulled down seven rebounds while adding four assists and two points. Montclair State shot 46% (29-62) from the field, 32% (10-31) from the three-point line and 76% (10-13) from the free throw line. The Red Hawks also scored 33 points off Ramapo's turnovers in the game.
The Roadrunners were led by
Bailey Murrell who posted a season high eight points while adding four rebounds.
Alison Ahern and
Leilani Pena each contributed with five points while Ahern pulled down four rebounds.
Brianna Smith recorded a team high eight rebounds while adding three steals and two points.
Ramapo returns to action on Saturday, Dec. 14th when they host the College of New Jersey in a NJAC game at 3pm.
