HISTORIC DAY AT RAMAPO AS COURT NAMED AFTER COACH MCBREEN

Mahwah, NJ:  Today marked a historic day at Ramapo College as President Cindy Jebb, as well as members of the Board of Trustees, administration and the Ramapo College Community honored longtime Head Coach Chuck McBreen.

Prior to tip-off, surrounded by members of our men's basketball program, alumni, current student-athletes and many families and community members, the court inside of the Bill Bradley Sports and Recreation Center was officially named Chuck McBreen Court.

"Today, we recognized the unparalleled coaching achievements of Chuck McBreen by etching his name on our court and his coaching legacy at our College," Vice President Chris Romano said.  "We're proud to recognize his over 27 years of service to Ramapo College as Head Men's Basketball Coach that has brought our program to soar to new heights and his leadership both on and off the court."

A native of North Bergen, NJ, McBreen has been at the helm of the highly competitive play–off team since 1998.  Entering his 27th year he holds an impressive 434-241 coaching record at Ramapo College.  McBreen was honored for his achievements by being inducted into the Ramapo College Athletic Hall of Fame on April 27th, 2019.

Ramapo is one of the winningest four-year college basketball programs in the state of New Jersey for Divisions I, II, and III over the past 20 years.  Under McBreen, the team has won seven NJAC regular season championships, made 18 NJAC tournament appearances while winning five NJAC tournament crowns. The Roadrunners made eight trips to the NCAA Championship Tournament while posting 20 or more wins nine times.

Coach McBreen has been recognized as Ramapo's College Coach of the year, has been named as NJAC Coach of the Year three times, as Met Writer's Coach of the Year five times, and as Atlantic Region Coach of the Year three times. Many of the student-athletes he has coached have gone on to be recognized as All-Americans and many have also gone on to play professional basketball.

During the 2002-2003 season, McBreen set school records for overall wins, 26, conference wins, 17, and consecutive wins, 17 and during the 2016-2017 season the Roadrunners reached their top ranking of #5 in the nation by D3hoops.com.

Before coming to Ramapo, McBreen spent two years as an assistant coach at Division I Western Carolina University. Prior to his time at WCU, he served as the head boys' basketball coach at Union Hill High School for four years. McBreen began his coaching career at North Bergen High School as an assistant during the 1988–89 season and spent three years at his alma mater in that capacity.

He is a 1988 graduate of Towson State University with degrees in physical education, driver's education and health.

Congratulations to Coach McBreen on this historic day!
