MEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS ON THE ROAD AT ROWAN

Glassboro, NJ:  The Rowan University men's basketball team earned a 73-65 win over Ramapo College this afternoon. The Profs move to 9-13 overall and 9-6 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners now stand at 5-17 overall and 4-11 in the league.

The two teams played an even first half as they went into the locker room tied at 28. In the second half, the Roadrunners started on a 6-2 run to take a 34-30 lead on a three-pointer from Jalen Thomas. Rowan would answer with an 11-2 run to take a 41-36 lead with just over 14 minutes remaining. The Profs extended their lead to seven twice over the next three minutes before Ramapo shrunk the lead to four with a pair of free throws from Thomas, 45-49, with 10:09 on the clock. A 12-2 run from Rowan extended their lead back to double digits with 6:45 remaining, 61-47. Ramapo would go on a 12-4 run which cut the lead to just six with 1:14 on the clock. The run was started by Isaiah Chung with a driving layup and was capped off with a pair of free throws from Elijah Barlow, 59-65. Ramapo would add six points to their total to wrap up the game as Rowan added eight for the NJAC victory.

Cantey scored a game high 26 points for the Profs while Brycen Williams added 16 and Kahlil Baker posted 11 points and ten rebounds. Rowan scored 40 points in the paint and 13 points off Ramapo turnovers. Rowan shot 43% (28-64) from the floor, 23% (6-26) from the three-point line and 91% (11-12) from the free throw line.

For the Roadrunners, Murchison posted a team high 23 points including three made three-pointers while adding seven rebounds and two steals. Barlow tallied 16 points while Thomas posted 10 points and 11 rebounds for his second double double of the season. Ramapo posted 28 points in the paint while they added 15 points off Rowan turnovers. The team shot 36% f(25-69) from the field, 40% (6-15) from beyond the three-point line and 64% (9-14) from the free throw line.

Ramapo returns to action on Wednesday, Feb. 11th when they host Rutgers-Newark at the Bradley Center at 7:30 PM.
