NJCU DEFEATS RAMAPO IN NJAC ACTION, 53-41

Jersey City, NJ:  The New Jersey City University women's basketball team earned a NJAC win over Ramapo College tonight, 53-41. The Gothic Knights move to 12-7 overall and 10-4 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners now stand at 13-8 overall and 9-5 in the conference.
 
NJCU used a big first half as they went into the locker room up 37-19 before Ramapo outscored the Gothic Knights 14-7 in the third quarter to hold onto a 44-33 lead heading into the final quarter of action. NJCU shot 37% (20-53) from the field, 28% (4-14) from the three-point line and 56% (9-16) from the free throw line. The Gothic Knights scored 24 points in the paint while they held the lead for the whole game. Damaris Rodriguez led the way with 14 points while Alaisha Mumford tallied ten. Sarah Edmond posted a team high 12 rebounds while she added eight points.
 
Ramapo was led by Jackie Ventricelli who posted a double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds while adding two assists and two steals. Olivia Johnstone scored two three-pointers in the game and recorded eight points and two rebounds. Shannon Burns collected seven points, six rebounds and four assists while Jada Thompson tallied five points, six rebounds and four steals. Ramapo shot 32% (17-53) from the floor, 23% (4-17) from the three-point line and 75% (3-4) from the free throw line.
 
Ramapo returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 3rd when they host Rutgers-Camden University in a NJAC game at 3:00 PM. The Roadrunners will honor their senior class in a pre-game ceremony.
