Poughkeepsie, NY: The Vassar College field hockey team posted a 4-0 shutout over visiting Ramapo College this afternoon at Weinberg Field. The Brewers' move to 4-1 overall while the Roadrunners now stand at 1-3 on the year.
Four different Brewers' scored for Vassar in the game. Hailey Brigger scored first for Vassar in the first period (11:20) off an assist from Alexa Gwyn. Ramapo held Vassar until 35:38 in the third period when Sofia Beseth put in a goal before Tori Barker added the third goal, also unassisted at 36:43. The fourth goal of the game came at 41:30 when Jaclyn Narleski converted a penalty stroke for the 4-0 score.
Vassar recorded 12 shots in the game including nine on goal while they also collected seven penalty corners.
Michelle Kukan posted four saves in the first 45 minutes of action for Ramapo while
Erika Roura tallied one save in the final 15 minutes of play. For Vassar, Sarah Dumaresq saw 45 minutes of action in the cage while Grace Wiley played the final quarter for the Brewers, neither having to make a save.
The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, September 20th when they play their first home game of the season. Ramapo will host New Paltz at 3:30pm at the Athletic Center Turf.
