Mahwah, NJ: The SUNY New Paltz Hawks field hockey team earned a 3-0 road win over Ramapo College today in non-conference action. The Hawks improve to 5-1 overall while the Roadrunners now stand at 1-4 on the year.
The Hawks scored one goal in the first, second and fourth quarters to earn the road win. Meghan Gunning scored her second goal of the season in the first two minutes of action to get New Paltz on the board, 1-0. In the second quarter, Hannah Ackerman notched her third goal of the year, as the Hawks were awarded a penalty stroke (23:42), for a 2-0 score. In the fourth quarter, Ayden Fleming tallied her team leading seventh goal of the season off a pass from Rachel Tama to put the Hawks up 3-0. New Paltz held Ramapo to just two shots in the game, one on goal while the Hawks put up 24 shots and 19 on goal.
Michelle Kukan collected 16 saves in the game for the Roadrunners while the team posted four penalty corners. Gail Comiskey tallied one save for New Paltz in the cage and the team collected eight penalty corners.
Ramapo returns to action on Saturday, September 23rd when they host Misericordia University in non-conference action at 4:00 PM.
