Montclair, NJ: The Ramapo College softball team swept NJAC rival Montclair State University this afternoon as the Roadrunners extended their win streak to four games. Ramapo, who won 6-2 and 6-4, now stands at 20-5-1 overall and 4-1-1 in the NJAC while the Red Hawks move to 17-7 overall and 3-3 in the conference.
Game One
Ramapo did most of their damage in the fifth inning as they scored four runs.
Katie Rygiel drove in the team's first run with an RBI single as
Nicole Cerasi scored before
Alexis Corra laced a double to the left-center field gap which plated
Jaclyn Monaco for a 2-0 lead. Bartolomeo drove home Rygiel with an RBI sac fly and
Avery Kontura drove in Corra with a single to left field, 4-0. MSU got two back in the sixth to cut the Roadrunner lead in half, 4-2, before Ramapo scored two runs in the top of the seventh.
Kori Gargiulo poked a single to center field which plated Wheeler before Kontora was able to race home when the ball was misplayed in the outfield, 6-2.

Marissa DiPaolo (6-0) earned the win in the circle as she struck out two, walked one and gave up just four hits and two runs in five innings of work.
Brooke Knight earned her third save of the season with two strikeouts in two innings of work. Knight only surrendered one hit and no runs scored.

Game Two
The Roadrunners saw themselves down 4-0 after two complete innings of play before Ramapo broke through in the top of the third to take a 5-3 lead. In the third inning, the Roadrunners scored two unearned runs in Rygiel and Monaco when a ball off the bat of
Mahogany Wheeler was misplayed in the outfield. With two runners on base for Ramapo,
Avery Bartolomeo took the first pitch she saw and belted a three-run home run to give Ramapo a one run lead, 5-4. In the fourth, Rygiel doubled to left-center before Wheeler drove her home with an RBI single for an insurance run, 6-4.

Wheeler (6-3) kept the Red Hawks off the board the remainder of the game to earn the win in relief. Wheeler struck out two, walked one and scattered four hits.
Kassy Stefanski started in the circle for the Roadrunners. She struck out one, walked one and surrendered five hits and four runs (three earned) in 1.1 innings of work. Gargiulo led the team in game two as she finished 3-4 at the plate including one double.

The Roadrunners return to action on Tuesday, April 11th when they travel to Kean University for a NJAC doubleheader at 3pm.Â
