Union, NJ: The Ramapo College softball team extended their win streak to six games with a NJAC conference sweep over Kean University this afternoon. The Roadrunners (22-5-1, 6-1-1 NJAC) held on to win game one, 4-3, and won the nightcap, 6-2. The Cougars move to 17-11 overall and 2-6 in the conference.

Game One
In the first inning Ramapo got on the board with an RBI single off the bat of
Alexis Corra as
Katie Rygiel came around to score. Rygiel led off the game with a double to center field. Kean would tie the game in the first before Ramapo took the lead for good in the top of the fifth. Rygiel led off with another double before
Mahogany Wheeler reached on an infield error by the Cougars.
Avery Bartolomeo then took the third pitch of the at bat and launched her third home run of the year, 4-1. After scoring one run in the fifth the Cougars came back to score one more in the seventh before Ramapo relief pitcher
Brooke Knight shut the door on the Kean offense to earn her fourth save of the season.

Marissa DiPaolo (7-0) started in the circle for the Roadrunners; scattering ten hits in six innings of work while letting up three runs. Knight got all three outs in the seventh as Ramapo held on for the 4-3 win, as Knight let up just one hit. Rygiel and Bartolomeo each collected two hits in the first game for Ramapo.

Game Two
Ramapo scored three runs in the top of the first for a quick 3-0 lead. Bartolomeo drove in Corra with an RBI single before
Kori Gargiulo plated Bartolomeo with an RBI single. The ball was misplayed in the outfield which allowed
Avery Kontura to score on the play, Kontura earned a walk earlier in the inning, 3-0. In the third, Ramapo added two runs as Kontura was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded before Gargiulo lifted a sac fly to right field which scored Wheeler, 5-0.
Nicole Cerasi laced a leadoff double to the left-centerfield gap in the top of the fourth. Rygiel then singled through the infield which put runners at the corners for Corra. Corra lifted a sac fly to center field to plate Cerasi with the team's sixth run of the game, 6-0. Kean got on the board in the bottom of the sixth with one run.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Cougars put the first two batters on with a single and a walk before Knight entered the game in the circle for Ramapo. Knight relieved starting pitcher
Kassy Stefanski who pitched six complete. Knight recorded the final three outs of the inning as the Roadrunners came away with the 6-1 win.

Stefanski (8-2) struck out four, walked two and scattered seven hits in six innings of work. Knight recorded one strikeout while she induced a popup and ground out in the seventh. Corra and Bartolomeo each posted two hits in the game to lead the Roadrunners.

Ramapo returns to action on Thursday, April 13th when they host St. Joseph's College Brooklyn in non-conference action at 3pm.
