Game One
The Roadrunners took a 4-0 lead following two complete innings of play.
Nicole Cerasi knocked in two RBI in the second before
Alexis Corra laced a two RBI double to left centerfield for a 4-0 lead. In the fifth inning,
Katie Rygiel belted her first home run of the season and second of her career over the left field wall to extend the lead, 5-0. Hunter scored one run in the top of the sixth before Ramapo scored four runs in the bottom of the inning.
Hannah Hensler belted her first career home run over the left field fence for the team's first run of the inning before
Jaclyn Monaco ripped a double down the left field line which plated
Anna Messina for a 7-1 lead. Monaco later scored on a Hawks error and Wheeler ripped a single past third base to plate the game-winning run in Corra, 9-1.
Mahogany Wheeler (5-3) earned the win in the circle for the Roadrunners as she struck out five and walked one while only surrendering four hits in the game. Corra led the way at the plate as she finished 3-4 with one run scored and two RBI.
Game two
Kassy Stefanski took a perfect game into the top of the seventh inning before surrendering the first hit of the game. It was a pitcher's duel until the seventh when Ramapo finally broke through with a run in the bottom of the inning for the walk-off win. Stefanski (7-2) struck out five, did not walk a batter and only let up one hit.
Hunter led off the seventh with a double before Stefanski and the Ramapo defense kept the Hawks off the board. Stefanski induced two strikeouts and an infield pop-up to end the threat, setting up Ramapo's game-winner in the bottom of the inning. Cerasi laced a single through the left side of the infield with two outs before she stole second then third. Monaco drew a five-pitch walk before Rygiel hit the first pitch of her at-bat and laced it inside the third base line and into left field as Cerasi scored for the walk-off win, 1-0.
Ramapo returns to action on Saturday, April 8th when they travel to Montclair State University for a pair of NJAC games beginning at 1:00pm.
