Winter Haven, FL: The Ramapo College softball team swept a pair of games at THE Spring Games this afternoon to win their third straight. The Roadrunners now stand at 6-2 overall.
Game 1
Saint Mary's took a quick 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning on a solo home run before Ramapo got on the board and tied the game with a run in the bottom half of the inning.
Katie Rygiel laced a double down the right field line which plated
Avery Kontura. In the second, Ramapo added four runs to take a 5-1 lead.
Avery Bartolomeo drove the fourth pitch she saw over the left field fence, her first home run of the season. Kontura plated Messina with a RBI sac fly before Rygiel drove in
Nicole Cerasi and
Jaclyn Monaco with a hard hit single up the middle, 5-1. In the third, SMC added three with a three-run home run to cut the Ramapo lead to just one, 5-4. In the bottom of the third, the Roadrunners added two runs for a 7-4 lead as Bartolomeo and
Hannah Hensler each scored unearned runs. In the fourth, Bartolomeo worked a bases loaded walk to plate Rygiel before they took a 10-4 lead in the sixth.

Niah Murphy with an RBI single before Hensler scored on a sac fly from Cerasi. In the seventh, SMC made it interesting as they scored three runs (two unearned) to cut the lead to three, 10-7, before Ramapo closed out the game with a strike out with two runners on base.
Ramapo belted out ten hits in the game as Rygiel finished 4-4 with three RBI and one run scored. Bartolomeo finished the game 2-2 with two runs scored, two RBI and two walks.
Brooke Knight (1-0) earned her first win in the circle for the Roadrunners with seven strikeouts and two walks. Knight scattered three hits and surrendered four runs in four innings of work.
Marissa DiPaolo earned the save in relief, inducing a strikeout to end the game.
Game 2
DiPaolo started game two and took a one-hit shutout into the seventh inning before Framingham State tacked on two more hits. DiPaolo struck out seven, walked one and let up just three hits in the 5-0 shutout victory. Cerasi led the Roadrunners at the plate finishing 3-3 with two runs scored while
Mahogany Wheeler and Bartolomeo each drove home one RBI. Monaco finished 2-2 with two RBI with one scored and four stolen bases.
Ramapo got on the board with a RBI sac fly from Wheeler in the first inning as Kontura was able to touch home plate, 1-0. Bartolomeo followed up with an RBI single down the right field line to plate Rygiel, 2-0. In the second inning, Monaco put down a bunt single which allowed Cerasi to move from second to third, on the play the throw got away from the defense allowing Cerasi to score the team's third run. In the fourth, it was Monaco once again to drive home Cerasi, this time with a hard hit single through the right side of the infield, 4-0. Ramapo scored their final run in the fourth on a wild pitch as Monaco scored.
The Roadrunners return to action tomorrow afternoon when they take on Lake Forest College (2pm) and Hood College (4:30pm).
