THOMPSON DOUBLE-DOUBLE LEADS RAMAPO TO FOURTH STRAIGHT WIN

Mahwah, NJ:  The Ramapo College women's basketball team won their fourth straight game with a 43-39 victory over Washington College (MD) today at the Bradley Center. The Roadrunners move to 7-4 overall while the Shorewomen drop to 6-4 on the year.
 
Ramapo took an 18-17 lead into halftime before each team scored eight points in the third quarter as the Roadrunners took a one point lead, 26-15, into the final quarter of action. In the fourth, Ramapo opened up a seven point lead with a 9-3 run capped off with a big three-pointer from Olivia Johnstone, 35-28. The Shorewomen went on a 7-0 run of their own to re-tie the game at 35 with just over two minutes left in the game. Down the stretch Jada Thompson connected on two trips to the free throw line while Shannon Burns added two of her own for a six point lead, 41-35, with 32 seconds remaining. Washington College got baskets from Serena Pluta and Meredith Abby while Ramapo scored their final two points from the free throw line for the 43-39 win.
 
Thompson led the way with 17 points, 15 rebounds, seven steals and four assists. Johnstone added eight points including two three-pointers while Burns collected six rebounds, six points and three blocked shots. Reilly Sheeley recorded four steals, two assists, three rebounds and two points. The team shot 24% (12-49) from the field, 22% (2-9) from the three-point line and 70% (17-24) from the free throw line. The Roadrunners scored 13 points off turnovers, 14 fastbreak points and six second chance points.
 
For Washington College, Meredith led the way with 12 points while Pluta and Emma Robinson each pulled down nine rebounds. Pluta contributed with seven points while Kiersten Rose added six points and six rebounds. The Shorewomen shot 27% (15-54) from the field, 12% (1-8) from the three-point line and 61% (8-13) from the free throw line. They scored 22 points in the paint and nine points off turnovers.
 
Ramapo returns to action on Saturday, January 6th when they travel to Rutgers-Camden University for a NJAC game at 1:00 PM.
