#2 NYU TOPS RAMAPO IN NON-CONFERENCE ACTION

New York, NY:  The New York University women's basketball team remained undefeated with a 96-54 win over Ramapo College this afternoon. The Violets, who are ranked #2 in both the WBCA and D3hoops.com Top 25 polls, improve to 6-0 overall. The Roadrunners now stand at 3-3 overall.
 
NYU opened the game on a 13-0 run in the first quarter before Ramapo got on the board with a basket from Shannon Burns. The Violets held a two-digit lead into the second quarter where they scored the first nine points stretching their lead to 24. NYU would take a 57-30 lead into the locker room at halftime. In the third quarter, Jackie Ventricelli put the Roadrunners on the board first with a basket off a steal from Jada Thompson. In the fourth, the Violets once again put up the first seven points of the quarter to extend the lead, 84-45. The NYU defense held Ramapo to just nine points in the final ten minutes of action.
 
Four players scored in double figures for NYU including four starters as they were led by Morgan Morrison with 17 points while she also pulled down a team high eight rebounds. Natalie Bruns collected 15 points, five assists and four rebounds while Erica Miller added 14 points including four three-pointers. Mary Kate Fahey added 11 points off the bench including three three-pointers. Belle Pellecchia added eight points, seven rebounds and a team high seven assists and three steals. The team scored 48 points in the paint and 20 points off Ramapo turnovers. NYU shot 51% (38-74) from the floor, 39% (13-33) from the three-point line and 77% (7-9) from the free throw line.
 
Alison Ahern posted a double-double for the Roadrunners with a team high 19 points and 12 rebounds. Thompson added 16 points, five rebounds, two steals and two assists while Ventricelli posted eight points, two rebounds and three assists. The team forced 10 NYU turnovers which led to 11 points for Ramapo. The Roadrunners shot 33% (21-62) from the field, 16% (3-18) from the three-point line and 60% (9-15) from the free throw line.
 
Ramapo returns to action on Wednesday, November 29th when they travel to Kean University (2-4/0-1 NJAC) for a NJAC conference game at 5:30pm.
