RAMAPO DOWNS RUTGERS-NEWARK IN NJAC ACTION, 76-54

Mahwah, NJ:  The Ramapo College women's basketball team defeated Rutgers-Newark University tonight at the Bradley Center, 76-54. The Roadrunners open NJAC play with a 1-0 record while they move to 3-2 overall. The Scarlet Raiders now stand at 1-5 overall and 0-1 in the conference.
 
Jackie Ventricelli led the Roadrunners with 21 points including a career high six three-pointers while adding two assists, six rebounds, seven steals and two blocks. Shannon Burns posted a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds including four offensive rebounds along with two blocks. Carley Martin, Jada Thompson and Lauren Flatt each contributed with nine points while Thompson added eight rebounds and two steals. Martin finished perfect from the free throw line (4-4) while Flatt finished with three made three-pointers. The team shot 35% (27-76) from the floor, 35% (12-34) from the three-point line and 90% (10-11) from the free throw line. Ramapo forced 24 Scarlet Raider turnovers which led to 25 points for the Roadrunners.
 
Smiyah Horton led all-scorers with 25 points finishing 10-19 from the field while she added five assists and four steals. Aliyah Sanchez added 11 points off the bench for the team while Tatiana Oliver posted a team high six rebounds. The team shot 41% (23-56) from the field, 30% (3-10) from the three-point line and 45% (5-11) from the free throw line.
 
The Roadrunners return to action on Sunday, November 26 when they travel to #2 ranked New York University (4-0 overall) for a 2:00 PM non-conference game.
