Hackettstown, NJ: The Centenary University women's basketball team used a strong fourth quarter to knock off Ramapo college today in non-conference action, 51-47. The Cyclones move to 3-1 overall while the Roadrunners stand at 2-2 overall.
Centenary poured in 23 points in the fourth quarter to Ramapo's nine including a key three-pointer from Carmen Escano with just 37 seconds remaining. The big three-pointer gave the Cyclones a two point lead. Centenary was led by Escano who finished with 13 points while Kaylie Elsbree added ten points. Vatijah Davis led the way with 11 rebounds while Elainy Pichardo added ten in the game. The Cyclones shot 34% (17-50) from the field, 26% (4-15) from the three-point line and 56% (13-23) from the free throw line.
For the Roadrunners,
Jackie Ventricelli posted 18 points, six steals and six rebounds.
Olivia Johnstone added eight points while
Carley Martin tallied ten points.
Shannon Burns added six points, six rebounds and a team high four blocks. The team shot 29% (17-57) from the floor, 33% (5-15) from the three-point line and 53% (8-15) from the free throw line.
Ramapo returns to action on Tuesday, November 21st when they host Rutgers-Newark University in the first NJAC game of the season at 5:30 PM.
