Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's basketball team won their season opener this afternoon over Hunter College at the Bradley Center, 79-41.
The Roadrunners held the Hawks under 12 points in all four quarters.
Jada Thompson led the way with 19 points while adding eight rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Olivia Johnstone finished with five three-pointers in the game and 2-2 from the free throw line to post 17 points.
Shannon Burns added 13 points while
Jackie Ventricelli added ten points, eight rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Reilly Sheeley led the team with nine rebounds while she added four assists, two steals and four points. The team shot 46% (30-65) from the floor, 38% (7-18) from the three-point line and 52% (12-23) from the free throw line. The Ramapo defense forced 23 Hunter turnovers which led to 25 points for the Roadrunners.
Alexa Charles led Hunter with 18 points while adding 13 rebounds for a double double in the season opener for the Hawks. Erin Cosio added ten points while Hagar Elwan posted seven points. The team shot 24% (14-58) from the field, 11% (3-26) from the three-point line and 83% (10-12) from the free throw line.
The Roadrunners return to the court on the road on Monday, November 13th when they travel to John Jay College for a non-conference match at 6pm.
