Newark, NJ: The Rutgers-Newark University men's soccer team posted a 3-0 NJAC victory tonight over Ramapo College. The Scarlet Raiders move to 5-7-4 overall and 3-2-2 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners now stand at 4-9-2 overall and 1-6 in the conference.
The Scarlet Raiders got on the board in the first half with a goal from Jake Milne, his first of the season in the 34th minute (33:15). Rutgers-Newark added two goals in the second half to push the lead to 3-0. Gerson Gonzalez-Quevedo scored (70:26) his second of the season off a pass from Andrew Solomon before Erick Cortes collected his fifth goal of the year. Gonzalez-Quevedo earned the assist on the final goal of the game.
The Scarlet Raiders tallied 16 shots including ten on goal in the game while they added four corner kicks. The Roadrunners posted 12 shots in the game including five on goal.
Kyle Allen's shot in the 8th minute of action was saved by a Rutgers-Newark defender before his shot early in the second half (47th minute) banked off the right post. Ramapo also collected four corner kicks in the game.
Gabriel Espada posted seven saves in goal for the Roadrunners while Pedro Flores tallied four saves in goal for Rutgers-Newark.
Ramapo returns to action when they travel to Stockton University for a NJAC conference game on Saturday, October 21st for an 11:00am kickoff.
