Pomona, NJ: The Ramapo College softball team opened the NJAC season with a split against Stockton University on the road. The Ospreys (10-6, 1-1 NJAC) won game two, 11-3 in five-innings while the Roadrunners (9-4, 1-1 NJAC) took game two, 8-4.

Game One
Stockton got on the board first in the first inning with one run before Ramapo tied the game in the second.
Mahogany Wheeler reached on a lead-off error before she later scored on an infield error for the 1-1 score. The Ospreys scored two runs in second and one run in the third to take a 4-1 lead before Ramapo came within one run in the top of the fourth. Wheeler drew a leadoff walk before
Katie Rygiel hit her first career home run over the left field fence, 3-4. Stockton would go on to score one run in the fourth and six runs in the fifth to force the run-rule victory, 11-3.

Wheeler (4-3) took the loss in the circle for the Roadrunners. She worked the first four innings; striking out two, walking two and surrendering 11 hits and eight runs (seven earned).
Sara Cappetti worked the final inning of play, letting up two hits and three runs. Ramapo recorded just two hits in the game as
Krista Verrino recorded the Roadrunner's second hit.

Game Two
Ramapo pounded out 14 hits in game two while Roadrunner starting pitcher
Marissa DiPaolo struck out five and surrendered just seven hits in the complete game victory. Ramapo took a quick 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Wheeler drove home two RBI with a double to right field before
Avery Bartolomeo worked a bases loaded walk which forced home
Alexis Corra. In the second inning, Corra reached on a fielder's choice earlier in the inning before scoring on a wild pitch, 4-0. Stockton added two unearned runs in the second inning to cut the lead in half before
Anna Messina scored on a pass ball in the third to take a 5-2 lead. The Ospreys added two more runs in the bottom of the third to come within one, 4-5, before Ramapo added three runs in the sixth. With two outs, Rygiel laced a double to right-center to score Wheeler before DiPaolo helped her own cause by driving in two RBI with a double to right-center, 8-4.

Corra and Messina led the Roadrunners with three hits each while Egan, Wheeler and Rygiel posted two hits. Â

The Roadrunners return to action on Tuesday, April 5th when they travel to William Paterson University in a NJAC matchup at 3pm.
