Weehawken, NJ: The Ramapo College softball team split a pair of non-conference games this afternoon on the road at Stevens Institute of Technology. The Roadrunners now stand at 15-6 overall while the Ducks move to 7-11 overall.

Game One
The first game resumed from a weather delay on April 21st in the second inning with the score tied 3-3. Ramapo would take a 4-3 lead in the top of the third inning as
Katie Rygiel laced a double to left-center field, scoring
Alexis Corra and
Mahogany Wheeler. In the fourth inning, Stevens took a 5-4 lead when Julia Barber connected on a two-run home run.

Stevens got out of a jam in the top of the seventh inning. With no outs and Roadrunners on first and second, Stevens turned a 5-3 double play before recording the final out of the game on a bouncing ball up the middle. The Ducks shortstop fielded and stepped on second for the force out to end the game.

Wheeler (6-5) posted three strikeouts while she scattered five hits. She surrendered five runs (two earned) in the loss.

Game Two
In the top of the first inning,
Alexis Corra reached on a fielder's choice, moved to second on Wheeler's single and later scored on Rygiel's hard hit single to right field, 1-0. Ramapo added six runs in the third. With one out Corra singled before Wheeler was hit by a pitch, Rygiel reached on a fielder's choice before a throwing error on the play allowed Corra to score, 2-0.
Marissa DiPaolo and
Jaclyn Monaco each drew bases-loaded walks to force home Wheeler and
Avery Bartolomeo, 4-0.
Krista Verrino poked a RBI single to right field plating DiPaolo while Messina and Monaco also scored on the play when the ball was misplayed in the outfield, 7-0.

The Roadrunners added one run in the fourth when Wheeler beat out an infield single, moved to second on a single from Rygiel and moved to third on a wild pitch. Bartolomeo then lifted a sac fly to center field allowing Wheeler to score, 8-0. The Ducks added one run in the bottom of the fourth before Ramapo added two more in the fifth.
Kendall Lafferty led off the inning with a single before Monaco put down a bunt single of her own and Verrino walked to load the bases. Corra plated Monaco with a sac fly before Verrino later scored on a wild pitch, 10-1.

DiPaolo (8-1) struck out nine, walked three and scattered four hits in the five inning victory. Wheeler, Rygiel and Bartolomeo each collected two hits in the game for the Roadrunners.

Ramapo returns to action on Saturday, April 16th when they travel to Rutgers-Camden University for a pair of NJAC games at 1pm.
