Mahwah, NJ: The New Jersey Athletic Conference announced the 2021-2022 NJAC Men's Indoor Track & Field All-Conference teams this afternoon.
Cheickna Traore highlights Ramapo's selections on the all-conference team as he's been named the G. Larry James Most Outstanding Athlete. The NJAC major awards are voted on by the league coaches following the NJAC Championship meet that was held on Feb. 21st, where the Roadrunners earned 4th place.
Traore earned NJAC First Team All-Conference in the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter dash as he was crowned NJAC Champion in both events. He posted a NJAC Championship meet record and a Ramapo College school record in the 60-meter dash (6.80 seconds) and 200-meter dash (21.38 seconds). Traore now holds school records in six indoor events: 60m, 200m, 300m, 400m, 500m and 600m. This is his second major NJAC post-season honor as he was named NJAC Rookie of the Year following the 2019-2020 season, the conference did not have a championship meet during the 2020-2021 year. He also earned NJAC Second Team All-Conference with the 4x400-meter relay team as they combined for a time of 3:20.03. Traore was selected as a four-time NJAC Track Runner of the Week this season and is currently 1st in the NJAC in the 60m and 200m while he is 2nd in the 400m dash. Across NCAA Division III so far this season he is 7th in the 60m, 3rd in the 200m and 8th in the 400m. The top 20 individuals qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championship meet.
Chris Andersen was crowned NJAC Champion in the mile which earned him NJAC First Team All-Conference. He also placed second in the 3k run and was named NJAC Second Team All-Conference. In the mile, he crossed the finish line in 4:12.26 while he posted a time of 8:39.74 in the 3k. Andersen is currently 10th in NCAA Division III and #1 in the NJAC in the mile while he is also #2 in the 800-meter run and #3 in the 3k in the conference.
Steven Fiumefreddo was crowned NJAC Champion in the 5k race which earned him NJAC First Team All-Conference. He posted a time of 14:57.63 at the championship meet. Fiumefreddo is currently in the top-50 in NCAA Division III in the 3k. He has the #1 time in the NJAC in both the 3k and 5k races this season while he is 5th in the mile.
The 4x400-meter relay team, made up of
Kenyon Fenderson, Traore,
Max Dubac and
Matt Cortez earned a second place finish at the conference championships. They clocked in with a time of 3:20.03 earning them each NJAC Second Team All-Conference. The quartet's time is currently in the top-50 across NCAA Division III and 3rd in the NJAC this season.
