Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's basketball team earned their second win of the season tonight over Old Westbury College, 76-29. The Roadrunners move to 2-0 overall while the Panthers open the season at 0-1 overall.
The Roadrunner defense did not allow the Panthers to score in the first quarter as Ramapo led 26-0 heading into the second quarter where they outscored Old Westbury 18-7 to post a 44-7 lead at halftime. Old Westbury scored six points in the third quarter and 16 points in the fourth quarter while Ramapo added a combined 32 points in the final two quarters for the 76-29 victory.
Jackie Ventricelli,
Jada Thompson and
Karly Wittenbauer all led the Roadrunners with nine points in the game.
Brianna Michel Carter added eight points, six rebounds and two assists while
Daria Pontone and
Salma Eddahiri each added seven points while Pontone posted six rebounds.
Olivia Cosenzo recorded six points and a team high seven rebounds and six assists. Ramapo shot 45% (32-70) from the field, 25% (3-12) from the three-point line and 56% (9-16) from the free throw line.
Nia Owens led the Panthers with nine points while she added five rebounds and two steals. Gianna Ventiere posted seven points and nine rebounds while Malaura Olivier posted four points and five rebounds. The team shot 18% (9-50) from the field and 64% (11-17) form the free throw line.
Ramapo returns to action on the road on November 16th when they travel to York College for a non-conference game at 6pm.
