ROADRUNNERS PARTICIPATE IN 5K RUN/WALK FUNDRAISER

Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College cross country team participated in the 2021 Never End the Fight 5k & Mental Health Walk on Saturday, October 9th.

Never End the Fight uses athletic events as well as formal educational presentations to spread awareness about the dangers of drug addiction and its connection to mental illness. The organization was created following the death of Dylan Macaluso, who grew up in Wyckoff, NJ, on April 18th, 2015. Macaluso's death was caused by an accidental overdosed. Following the death of his grandfather in 2008, he struggled with depression and started smoking pot to self-medicate his problems away. Eventually this led to illegal prescription pain killers and eventually heroin.

Justin Macaluso, Dylan's younger brother, created and runs the website: neverendthefight.org. The Macaluso's are committed to speaking openly about Dylan's life and death, and helping remove stigmas associated with both mental illness and addiction. They will never end the fight to educate others about the serious and deadly dangers of opioids.

They accept financial donations which will help them educate and raise awareness about addiction and mental illness, eliminate stigmas associated with these diseases, and support other public charities, like The National Alliance on Mental Illness and The Herren Project.
