Box Score Haledon, NJ: The Ramapo College women's basketball team fell to the Pioneers of William Paterson University today in a New Jersey Athletic Conference match-up, 58-67. The Roadrunners now stand at 8-8 overall, 2-7 in the NJAC while the Pioneers stand at 7-8 overall, 6-3 in the conference.
Jenna Harsh led the Roadrunners with 22 points and six rebounds.
Jessica Repasy had seven points and collected eight rebounds, and
Samantha Rinaldi netted eight points. The team shot 17-49 (35%) from the field and were 20-22 (91%) from the line. Alisa Giordano led the Pioneers with 12 points, Yakira Rosa had 11 points and pulled down 11 rebounds, and Danica DeFrank also netted 11 points. The team shot 22-65 (34%) from the field and 16-23 (70%) from the line.
Madison Dulude would make a layup sparking an 8-2 run for the Pioneers capped off by a three-point shot from Giordano giving them a 15-9 advantage. Ramapo would answer back with a 6-1 run behind four points from Harsh putting them within one of the Pioneers, 15-16. William Paterson extended their lead to six after a 5-0 run before a free throw from
Samantha Rinaldi would be the last point of the quarter, 16-21. Dulude opened up the second period with a layup before Vianca Soriano would tack on one for the Pioneers. With 5:27 left in the first half Repasy netted a free-throw sparking a 12-3 run for the Roadrunners. A pair of free-throws from Harsh gave the Roadrunners the one-point advantage to head in to the locker room for the half, 28-27.
The two teams came out in the third period to trade baskets before a three-point shot from Harsh would keep Ramapo on top, 35-31. Rosa would answer back and net a three-pointer of her own sparking a 15-0 run for the Pioneers, capped off by back-to-back shots by DeFrank, 46-35. Repasy tacked on two more for Ramapo before Ema Jacketti netted the final points of the quarter extending the William Paterson lead to eleven, 48-37. A pair of free-throws from
Sarah Minchin with 6:53 left in the game brought the Roadrunners within eight, 44-52. The two teams would go on to trade baskets before two free-throws from
Stacey Porzl would close the gap to six with 1:20 left to play, 54-60. The Roadrunners would tack on four more points in the final 10 seconds of play but the Pioneers would come away with the win, 58-67.
The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, January 22 at 6:00pm when they travel to Rutgers-Newark for a New Jersey Athletic Conference match-up.
