Montclair, NJ: The Montclair State University women's swim team slipped past Ramapo College today after winning the final event of the meet to post a 133-126 victory. The Red Hawks improve to 7-3 overall, 1-2 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners now stand at 2-3 overall and 0-3 in the conference.
The Roadrunners won seven events in the meet.
Maggie Herbert won three individual events and was the anchor leg of the 200-yard medley relay, which also won first place. The team clocked in at 1:52.47 and was made up of
Julia Housel,
Brenda Arthur,
Meghan Trewhella and Herbert.
Herbert returned to the pool and won the 200-yard freestyle (2:00.70), 50-yard freestyle (24.78) and the 100-yard freestyle in 55.25. Housel out touched the field in the 100-yard backstroke to win with a time of 1:02.34 while
Cara Housel placed third in 1:05.28. In the 100-yard breaststroke
Allison Van Glahn and
Grace McCrone placed 2-3 overall with times of 1:14.45 and 1:15.29 respectively. J. Housel also captured a first place finish in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:15.27 out touching MSU by .46 seconds. Arthur recorded a first place finish in the 100-yard butterfly when she touched the wall in 1:00.61 while she placed second in two events, the 200-yard butterfly in 2:23.66 and the 200-yard IM (2:17.68). The 400-yard freestyle relay team placed second in the meet with a time of 3:54.18. The team was made up of J. Housel,

Lene Sansone and McCrone.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, January 28th when they host FDU-Forham for a non-conference meet at 2pm. Ramapo will honor their senior class in a ceremony prior to the meet.
