Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College softball team is headed to Christopher Newport University for the first round of the 2015 NCAA Division III Softball Championship. The field of 62 teams was announced this morning in a selection show on NCAA.com.

Tournament Web Site The Roadrunners (28-12-1), champions of the New Jersey Athletic Conference, have been awarded the #2 seed in the regional. Ramapo will take on Old Dominion Athletic Conference Champion Randolph-Macon College. The Yellow Jackets (24-10) earned the #3 seed in the regional and will take on the Roadrunners at 1pm on Friday afternoon. The Roadrunners are making their sixth trip (2003 & 2004, 2006-2008) to the NCAA Tournament and their first since the 2008 season. Ramapo won the Salisbury Regional Title in 2006 to advance to the NCAA Championship round. The NJAC leads the country with four teams in this year's tournament - with three teams earning at-large bids. Kean University earned the #1 seed and is hosting conference rival #2 William Paterson University while Rowan earned the #1 seed in the Alfred Regional.
Host and #1 seed Christopher Newport (27-7), winners of the Capital Athletic Conference Tournament, will take on #4 seed Salem College (20-14-2). The Spirits won the Great South Championship Tournament and will take on CNU on Friday at 3:30pm in game two. Three games are scheduled for Saturday in the double-elimination regional. Times are set for 12:00pm., 2:00pm, and 4:00pm. Sunday's Championship will begin at 12:00pm.
The regional round will be held May 8-10. Four teams will compete at 14 regional sites and three teams will compete at two regional sites. The team advancing from each regional will compete in the super regional round May 15 and 16. The finals, hosted by the Old Dominion Athletic Conference and the City of Salem, will be held May 21-26 at Moyer Sports Complex in Salem, Virginia. All rounds will use a double-elimination format.
Forty-two conferences received automatic qualification (Pool A). Two institutions were selected from Pool B, which includes independent institutions and institutions from conferences that do not meet the automatic qualification criteria. The 18 remaining teams were selected on an at-large basis from automatic qualifying conferences and the remaining institutions in Pool B.
