Box Score Union, NJ: The Ramapo College women's lacrosse team fell to the Cougars of Kean University, 6-16, tonight in a New Jersey Athletic Conference match-up on the road. Kean gets their ninth win of the season to improve to 9-6 overall and 3-2 in the conference, while the Roadrunners fall to 4-8 overall and 1-4 in the conference.
The Cougars scored eight straight goals to open the game with an 8-0 lead over the Roadrunners, before Ramapo's Charlotte Council collected a goal, off an assist from
Lindsay Hughes, at 10:55, to close the gap, 1-8. It would be the final goal of the half as Ramapo's
Reagan Vier made six saves in the half to Kean's Daniella Wagenti's one.
A free position goal to start the second half from Kean's Samantha Gnapp, put the Cougars ahead, 9-1, before two more goals, one each from Kelly Bachovchin and Jordan Blanda, put Kean ahead 11-1 with 27:33 remaining in the game.
Rookie
Monica Torres netted a goal at 24:35, before Council scored her second, and Hughes her first of the game, to come within seven goals, 4-11, with 22:26 to play. But it was Kean the rest of the way as they out scored Ramapo, 5-2 to take the game, 16-6 over the Roadrunners.
Itati Aburto and Torres scored the final two goals for Ramapo.
Vier made six more saves in the half while Wagenti added four. The Cougars out shot the Roadrunners, 38-15 in the game. Julie Knodt led the Cougars with four ground balls while Ramapo's
Katie Duca picked up three in the loss.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, April 26th, when they host Richard Stockton College at 1pm at the Athletic Center.
