RAMAPO GETS 14-11 WIN OVER RUTGERS CAMDEN

Box Score Camden, NJ:  The Ramapo College women's lacrosse team posted a 14-11 victory today over the Scarlet Raptors of Rutgers Camden in a New Jersey Athletic Conference match-up on the road.  With the victory the Roadrunners improve to 4-5 overall, and 1-1 in the conference.  Rutgers Camden falls to 4-8 overall and 0-3 in the conference. 
 
Rookie Monica Torres got the Roadrunners on the board first, just under three minutes into the game, but the Scarlet Raptors fired back with two goals from Dorothy Westlake to jump ahead, 2-1 over Ramapo.  Kelsey Lawrence, Lindsay Hughes, and Lauren Schmidt got the Roadrunners on top as they each posted unassisted goals to go ahead 4-2 with 17:21 left in the half.  The Scarlet Raptors scattered three more goals across the first half of play, and Ramapo added five, four coming from Hughes, to head into the intermission with a 9-5 lead over Rutgers Camden. 
 
The Scarlet Raptors out shot the Roadrunners 17-15 in the half, as senior netminder Reagan Vier made six saves in net for Ramapo.  Michelle Boyd made three saves for Rutgers Camden.
 
In the second half, Ramapo struck first with a goal from Charlotte Council, off an assist from Hughes, before the Scarlet Raptors connected four straight goals to close the gap, 9-10 with 17:51 left to play.  Vier held Rutgers Camden to just two more goals and Ramapo was able to net four of their own, to walk away with the three-goal, 14-11 victory.  Hughes added two, Lacey Gruendling chipped in one, and Michelle Gustafson added one, down the final stretch of the game. 
 
Rutgers Camden again out shot Ramapo, 14-11 and Vier posted five saves to Boyd's one.
 
Ramapo returns to action on Tuesday, April 15th when they host NJAC rival Montclair State at 4pm at the Athletic Center.
