Box Score Mahwah, NJ: The #5 Lions of The College of New Jersey held the Roadunners scoreless as they recorded their ninth straight win of the season, 19-0 on the road, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference women's lacrosse match-up.
The Lions (9-0, 2-0 NJAC), earned the shut out victory behind six goals from Ava Fitzgerald. TCNJ commanded the game as they out shot Ramapo (3-2, 0-1 NJAC), 28-0, goaltenders Kelly Schluup and Catherine Killian, sharing the shut out and going untested on the day.
Fitzgerald, off a free position shot, scored what turned out to be the game winner under three minutes into the first half of play, and the Lions never looked back as they jumped out to a 12-0 halftime lead. Cortney Natalicchio, Kendal Borup, Fitzgerald (3), Megan Donnelly, Garavente (2), Lauren Pigott (2), and Erin Waller, all collected goals in the remainder of the first half as the Lions out shot Ramapo, 17-0.
Borup scored her 35th goal of the season in the opening 17 seconds of the second half, before Fitzgerald posted back-to-back goals, her 26th and 27th of the season, to go ahead 15-0 over Ramapo. Pigott collected two additional goals and Megan Devlin added one, before Garavente rounded out the scoring with 48 seconds left in the game to walk away with the 19-0 shut out win.
Ten of the 19 goals were assisted as Garavente collected five, Pigott two, and Borup, Waller, and Natalicchio each one.
Ramapo returns to action on Thursday, April 3rd, when they travel to Mt. St. Mary for a 7pm match-up in Newburgh, NY.
