HUGHES NETS GAME WINNER IN DOUBLE OT WIN OVER MANHATTANVILLE

Box Score Purchase, NY:  Sophomore Lindsay Hughes collected her 30th goal of the season as she led the Ramapo College women's lacrosse team to a 17-16 double overtime victory over the Valiants of Manhattanville College on the road today.  With the victory the Roadrunners improve to 3-1 overall.  Manhattanville falls to 1-8.

It took over 66 minutes to determine a winner as Ramapo and Manhattanville traded shots and goals, with the Roadrunners coming out on top in the second overtime period of a non-conference women's lacrosse match-up.

Manhattanville held a slight two-goal (7-5) advantage at halftime, but the Roadrunners responded out scoring the Valiants 9-7 in the second half to tie the game at 14-14 after regulation.  The Roadrunners took a two-goal edge in the first overtime period with goals from Hughes and Katie Duca, but the Valiants fought back to tie the game once again after Brooke Marcimo and Casandra Honovich each tallied one for the Valiants.  It was Hughes that came out the hero with just 2:07 left on the clock in the second overtime, when she collected an unassisted goal, her eighth of the game, to seal the deal for the Roadrunners.

Ramapo held a 15-11 advantage in shots for the game, while Reagan Vier gets the win for Ramapo collecting six saves in the complete game.  Manhattanville's Kirsten Shaughnessy made 14 saves in the net for the Valiants.

Hughes finished the game with eight goals and two assists, while rookie Monica Torress posted four goals of her own.  Duca added two and Teresa Gustafson, Charlotte Councill, and Winter Tanis each added one in the win.

The Roadrunners return to action on Tuesday, April 1st when they host The College of New Jersey at 4pm at the Athletic Center in Mahwah.
