RAMAPO WRAPS UP REGULAR SEASON; HEADS TO PLAY-OFFS

Box Score Mahwah, NJ:  The Ramapo College women's basketball team dropped a tough New Jersey Athletic Conference match-up tonight to the Pioneers of William Paterson University, 66-82, falling to 12-13 overall, wrapping up regular season play.  With the loss the Roadrunners finish at 9-9 in the NJAC. Ramapo's Micaela Moore netted her 1,000th career point in the game. 

With the win, William Paterson improves to 16-9, 13-5 NJAC.  The two teams will face off again this Saturday, February 22nd in Wayne, in the opening round of the NJAC Championship Tournament.  Ramapo earns the #6 seed while the Pioneers earn the #3 seed.

Floriana Borova led the Pioneers with 29 points, hitting 8-24 from the field and 10-13 from behind the charity stripe, while Kristine Jackiewicz put away seven field goals, which included five three-pointers, collecting 19 points in the win.  Dana Jeter chipped in ten points and Ashley Marfo added ten of her won, as Borova dished out a team high five assists and grabbed five steals.  The team shot a combined 28-73 (38%) in the win.

Jackiewicz opened the game with a three-point goal and a lay-up for William Paterson, before Brittany Ennis drained a three of her own to start the game with an eight-point lead over Ramapo, forcing Ramapo to call a timeout.  Coming out of the timeout, Jackie Jerkovich nailed three points to get the Roadrunners on the board, 3-8, with 17:30 to play.  Jackiewicz (2) and Borova answered with three additional three-point goals to put the Pioneers ahead 17-3, just over one minute later.  Kelly Haspel then responded with a three, to close the gap to 6-17, before eight straight Pioneers points put WPU ahead, 25-6 with 13:20 on the clock.  Jackiewicz put away her fourth long basket of the half during the run.  Fourteen seconds later, Kerri Kosakowski sparked a 7-0 Ramapo run to bring Ramapo within 12, 13-25, but two good free throws from Jeter, put the Pioneers on top by 14 once again, 27-13.  In the remainder of the half, the Roadrunners broke within single digits on three occasions, but it wasn't enough as the Pioneers worked their way to a 14 point lead again with 4:53 to go, 39-25.  Ramapo held William Paterson to four points in the remainder of the half, and they sank eight of their own, to head into the locker room short, 33-43 to WPU.  Borova led the Pioneers with 18 points and Jackiewicz collected 14, as the team hit 14-39 (36%) from the field, including seven three-point goals. Moore led the Roadrunners with eight points and six rebounds.  The Roadrunners combined hitting 11-31 (36%).  Ramapo sank four three-point baskets in the first half of play.

Ramapo came out on fire to start the second half with Moore sparking a 9-1 run to come within just one point, 44-45.  Bintou Berete capped the run with a jump shot at 14:52.  A mini 5-0 run from William Paterson put the Pioneers up 50-44, but a three-point goal from Anna Fucci cut the lead in half, putting Ramapo within three points, 47-50 with 13:10 to play.  Over the next seven minutes, the two teams traded baskets, until a 10-4 Pioneer run, sparked by Ashley Marfo and capped with a three from Jackiewicz, put William Paterson ahead 74-64 with just under three minutes to go.  WPU would wrap up the game with an 8-2 run to earn the NJAC victory, 82-66.  Borova led the Pioneers with 11 points as the team hit 14-34 (41%) ahead of Ramapo's 11-28 (39%).  Moore led Ramapo with ten second half points.

Moore finished with a team leading 18 points and 12 rebounds for Ramapo.  She scored her 1,000th career point in the second half of the game on a free throw.  Ramapo hit 22-59 (37%) as a team.
