MOORE LEADS RAMAPO TO WIN OVER ROWAN

Box Score Mahwah, NJ:  The Ramapo College women's basketball team earned a 69-55 New Jersey Athletic Conference victory today over the Profs of Rowan University, behind 23 points and ten boards from senior Micaela Moore.

Moore shot 8-13 from the floor, sinking 7-8 from the charity stripe for a team leading 23 points.  She completed the double-double with a team leading ten rebounds, while Kelly Haspel collected ten points and Jackie Jerkovich and Kerri Kosakowski each collected seven in the win.  The team combined hitting 23-63 (37%). 

The Roadrunners (6-6 overall, 4-3 NJAC) went into the locker room with a two-point, 34-32 lead, after opening the game with a 12-0 start over the Profs (3-10 overall, 2-5 NJAC).  Moore got the Roadrunners on the board, and capped off the 12-point run with a jumper at 16:48. Rowan would go on a mini 6-0 run of their own to cut the lead in half, before the Roadrunners pushed their lead back to 11 with a free throw from Kellie Lane.  Anyssa Sanchez would spark, and cap off, a 9-0 Rowan run to get the Profs within two points, 15-17, with 10:10 to go in the half.  The two teams would trade baskets over the next six minutes until a layup from Kate Matthews, tied the game for the first time, 28-28.  Kosakowski would sink the front-end of a two-shot foul, before a basket from Bria Hill gave the Profs their first lead of the game, 30-29, with 1:44 to go.  With Rowan up 32-31 and 1:07 on the clock, Ramapo would hold the ball until Haspel drained a three-point goal with seven seconds left to take the 34-32 halftime lead.  Ramapo went 11-34 (32%) in the opening half, with Moore leading all Roadrunners with 12 points.  Anna Fucci chipped in six points and Haspel dished out two assists.  The Profs combined hitting 13-29 (45%) from the field.  Alex Raring led the way with seven points and Valerie Garofalo collected four assists.

Ramapo scored the first three baskets of the second half to go ahead, 38-32, and after Rowan cut the score to just two points, 40-42 at 13:11, Jerkovich would nail a jump shot to spark a 6-0 run, to take an eight point edge, 48-40, capped off with a layup from Tierney Henderson.  Ramapo spent the next six minutes spreading their lead to 15 points, going ahead 62-47 at 5:51 with two free throws from Lane.  The Roadrunners kept control the remainder of the game to take home the 69-55, 14-point conference victory.  The Roadrunners combined hitting 12-29 (41%) in the half, with Moore leading the way with 11 points.  Alayna Donadio pulled down a team leading six boards.  Rowan went 11-30 (37%).  Matthews led the team with a double-double with 12 points and ten rebounds.

Matthews led the Profs with 14 points and Jade Bonder and Alex Raring each added seven, while Matthews pulled down a team leading 12 rebounds.  The Profs hit 24-59 (41%) in the loss.

The Roadrunners return to action on Monday, January 13th, when they travel to Hunter College for a 6:00pm tip-off.  Rowan will host Immaculata University at 7:00pm in Glassboro on Monday, January 13th.
