Lindsay Hughes, defeated Maritime, 18-6 today in a Skyline Conference match-up on the road. The Roadrunners improve to 3-7 overall and .500 in the conference at 3-3. Maritime falls to 2-8 overall and 1-6 in the Skyline.
Ramapo scored the first three goals of the game early in the first half with goals coming from Hughes (2) and
Michelle Gustafson (1), before Maritime's Jackie Golematis got Maritime on the board with her first unassisted goal of the day. Leanne Lavelle scored on a free position shot to close the gap, 3-2, before Ramapo scored another three unanswered goals to jump ahead 6-2. Hughes hit the back of the net again and
Briana Vitulano posted one of her own off a dish from
Amanda Ferry, before Ferry collected a goal to take the four goal advantage. Lavelle added the third goal of the game for Maritime before the Roadrunners closed out the half with four more goals to head into the intermission with a 10-3 lead.
Ramapo held Maritime to just three goals in the second half and collected an additional eight of their own to close out the game, 18-6 over Maritime. Ramapo outshot the Privateers, 35-28, to win the game.
Ramapo was led by Hughes who had eight goals. Gustafson collected five goals. Hughes won seven draw controls and had three groundballs. Sophomore
Reagan Vier had 15 saves in goal for Ramapo.
The Roadrunners return to action on Tuesday, April 9th at 4pm when they take on Purchase College at the Athletic Center in Mahwah.
