SOFTBALL SPLITS WITH KEAN ON FINAL DAY OF REGULAR SEASON

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College softball team split their final NAJC double header of the season with rival Kean University.  The Cougars took game one, 8-0, while the Roadrunners came back to defeat Kean in game two, 2-1 in the bottom of the seventh.

Game One
The Cougars scored single runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings before they scored five runs to extend their lead, 8-0 after the top of the seventh inning.

Megan Cegielski scored an unearned run in the third inning to get on the board, 1-0 before Katie Schuh ripped a double to right field in the fourth inning as Kelsey Hannan came around to score in the fourth, 2-0. The Cougars added an unearned run in the fifth inning before they scored five runs in the fifth inning, extending their lead to 8-0.

The Roadrunners could not push a run across to extend the game as Kean came away with the road victory.

Courtney Yard (15-10) struck out 11, while setting Kean's all-time strikeout record. She scattered five hits in the complete game shutout.

Harley Masiello (9-10) took the loss for Ramapo, she struck out four.

Game 2
The Roadrunners scored an unearned run in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a 1-0 lead. Jaclyn Lima singled up the middle and advanced to second base on a fielding error by Kean with one out. Melissa Moreno then ripped an RBI single to left field, scoring Lima with the game's first run.

Kean would come back and score to tie the game, 1-1, with two outs in the top of the seventh inning. Jill Martin drove home Kelly Moorehead with a single to right center. Moorehead led off the inning with a double before moving to third on an infield ground out.

Kelsey Higgins laced a double to center field, her 100th career hit, to lead off the bottom of the seventh before Janet Brown put down a sac bunt to move her to third base. Taylor Boffalo then ripped the second pitch she saw into right center field allowing Higgins to come home with the game winning run, 2-1.

Nicole Schneider (9-7) struck out four while scattering four hits in the complete game win. Higgins was a perfect 3-3 at the plate for the Roadrunners while Lima, Moreno and Boffalo each collected one hit a piece.

Courtney Yard (15-11) struck out nine and scattered six hits for the Cougars.
