Box Score Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's lacrosse team dropped a tough match-up today, 8-21, to the Rams of Farmingdale State. With the loss the Roadrunners fall to 5-10 overall, and .500 in the Skyline Conference at 5-5. Farmingdale State improves to 14-2 overall and remains undefeated in the conference at 10-0.
Nicole Marzocca got the Rams on the board quickly in the first half, hitting the back of the net just 1:09 into the game. Rookie
Lindsay Hughes answered back just 15 seconds later to tie the game at 1-1, before Hughes posted her second of the game at 3:50, to put the Roadrunners ahead, 2-1. Kimberly Pepe evened the score at 2-2 and
Amanda Ferry gave Ramapo a one goal, 3-2 lead, with 23 minutes to play in the half. At 9:05, Hughes posted her third goal of the game to give Ramapo a 4-2 lead, but six straight goals from the Rams pushed Farmingdale ahead 8-4, with just over five minutes to play. Hughes collected goals at 25:15 and 29:30, spilt by two goals from Farmingdale's Christy Thoden and Marzocca, closing out the first half with Farmingdale leading, 10-6.
The Rams held a 31-12 advantage in shots, while
Reagan Vier collected 14 saves in the first 30 minutes of play. Thalia Medina made three saves in goal for the Rams.
The Rams held the Roadrunners to just two goals in the final half, out shooting Ramapo, 23-7, earning the 21-8 Skyline Conference victory. Jackie Kennedy opened the scoring just two seconds into the game, and Nicole Marzocca posted back-to-back goals to put the Rams ahead, 13-6. Ferry closed the gap for Ramapo at 4:40, but it wasn't enough as the Rams connected on three straight, to take a 16-7 edge over Ramapo. Ferry posted Ramapo's final goal of the game at 10:59 before Christy Thoden (3), Kristen Ranaldo, Kelly Geheran (2), and Emily Wolff closed out the game for the Rams, each collecting a goals of their own.
Vier collected an additional seven saves in the half to finish the day with 21, while Medina added one to her three first half saves, finishing the win with four.
Hughes led Ramapo with nine draw controls and Thoden and Marzocca each collected five in the win.
The Roadrunners return to action on Tuesday, April 23rd when they travel to the #3 seed (TBD) of the Skyline Championship Tournament. Ramapo has clinched the #6 spot of the post-season pairings.
