RAMAPO FALLS TO ROWAN

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Mawhah, NJ: The #11 Rowan University softball team swept Ramapo College today, 3-0 and 11-0 in five innings. The Profs raise their overall record to 28-4 while they stand at 9-1 in the conference. The Roadrunners fall to 13-10 overall and 4-6 in the NJAC.

In game one, the Profs scored three runs in the top of the fifth inning to take a 3-0 lead. Alysa Romero led off the inning with a home run over the left field wall, her fourth of the year. Jen Arcella then ripped a two out double to right centerfield bringing home two more runs for the Profs, 3-0.

Harley Masiello went the distance falling to 7-5 overall. She struck out two and walked one in the loss while scattering four hits.

For the Profs, LeAnne Miller improved to 16-2 overall in the shutout win. She struck out seven and walked none while giving up nine hits.

In game two, the Profs belted out 14 hits while scoring 11 runs in the five inning shortened game. Krysti Maronski held the Roadrunners to only two hits while she struck out ten as she raised her record to 10-1 overall.

Rowan got on the board with the eventual game winning run in the top of the third inning. Shilah Snead walked with one out before Stephanie Labas cracked a home run over the right field fence on the second pitch she saw to go up 2-0. Ashley DeYoung and Meagan Lee ripped back to back doubles as DeYoung came around to score for the third run of the inning, 3-0. Rowan scored four runs each in the fourth and fifth innings to extend their lead to 11-0.

Ramapo could not push a run across in the bottom half of the fifth inning as Maronski recorded a strikeout, a ground out and a strikeout to end the game.

Starting pitcher Nicole Schneider worked the first 3.1 innings for Ramapo, giving up seven hits, and five runs (four earned) while striking out one and walking two. Danielle Isenberg and Halle Pineiro combined to work the final 1.2 innings. Isenberg surrendered four hits and four runs with two walks while Pineiro surrendered three hits and two runs.

The Roadrunners return to action on Tuesday when they travel to NJAC rival Rutgers-Newark University for a 3:30pm doubleheader.
