Women's Lacrosse

ROADRUNNERS CRUISE PAST SAGE, 20-8

Box Score Loudonville, NY:  The Ramapo College women's lacrosse team cruised past the Gators of Sage College today in a women's lacrosse Skyline match-up. The Roadrunners posted a 20-8 victory to improve to 5-8 overall and 2-3 in the Skyline Conference, while Sage falls to 4-9 overall and 3-5 in the conference.

Sage got on the board first just over one minute into the game, before rookie Lindsay Hughes poured out six straight goals, to give the Roadrunners a 6-1 lead 13 minutes into the game.  Briana Vitulano capitalized on a free position shot to go up, 7-1, before Sage collected four straight goals to close the gap, 5-7.  Hughes wrapped up the first half with another goal for Ramapo to head into the intermission with an 8-5 lead over the Gators.  The Roadrunners out shot the Gators, 18-8 in the first 30 minutes of play, and goalkeeper Reagan Vier made two saves for Ramapo.

Sage again opened up the scoring in the second half of play to come within two goals, before Amanda Ferry (4), Hughes (3), and Lauren Schmidt (1) strung together eight goals to jump ahead 16-6 with 13 minutes left to play.  Ramapo out scored Sage, 4-2 in the remainder of the half, earning the 20-8 Skyline Conference win. 

Vier blocked an additional six shots in the final half as Ramapo again held an advantage in shots, 15-12.

Hughes led the team with 11 goals while Ferry collected four goals of her own.  Vier tallied eight saves in recording the win.

The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, April 17th when they travel to Montclair State for a 4pm match-up.
