Box Score Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's lacrosse team fell to non-conference rival FDU-Florham today, 18-6, to open the 2013 season. The Devils even their overall record to 1-1.
Junior Ashley Schlindwein scored her second goal of the season and first of the game, to put the Devils on the board, 1-0, just 2:26 into the game. Sara Slicklen and Dana Amorosi added goals for FDU-Florham to take a 3-0 lead before Ramapo got on the board. Rookie
Lindsay Hughes scored the Roadrunners first goal of the year, 13:56 into the first half before the Devils added three more goals to take a 6-1 lead. Sophomore
Taylor Jade Nicholas scored, unassisted to cut the lead to 6-2 before the Devils scored a goal at the end of the half my Caitlin McGinley to take a 7-2 lead into the ten minute halftime.
Ramapo came out in the second half and scored three straight goals, all by Hughes, to close the gap to 7-5. The Devils would respond with seven unanswered goals of their own to take a 14-5 advantage. Hughes would hit the back of the net for her fifth goal of the game, 22 minutes into the second half off an assist from senior
Amanda Ferry, 14-6. The Devils closed out the game with four goals for an 18-6 road victory.
For the Roadrunners, sophomore goalie
Reagan Vier played all 60 minutes in the net as she collected eight saves. For the Devils, sophomore goalie Grace Warburton also played a complete game in the net, while she made 13 saves in the win.
Ramapo (0-1) will take on Drew University at home on Thursday at 3:30pm.
