Box Score Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's basketball team fell to NJAC rival #3 Montclair State University, 78-44, today at the Bradley Center. The Red Hawks remain undefeated at 6-0 overall and 4-0 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners fall to 4-5 overall, 2-2 in the NJAC.
MSU jumped out to a 9-2 lead in the first half as Janitza Aquino scored her second three pointer of the game before Ramapo cut the lead to five, 6-11 (15:08), on a jumper from junior
Tierney Henderson. MSU took their biggest lead of the half with 11:06 on the clock as Aquino hit the back end of a two shot foul to go up 17, 26-9. The Red Hawks led by a margin of 17 again with 7:59 to go before the Roadrunners went on a 13-5 run capped off with a pair of foul shots by
Kelly Haspel with 44 seconds left to go, as the Roadrunners cut the lead to seven, 27-34. Nicosia Henry scored the final basket of the half as MSU went into the locker room up nine, 36-27. The Roadrunners shot 44% from the field in the first half while the Red Hawks shot 40% from the field.
The Red Hawks would lead in double figures the whole second half as they pulled away with a 34 point victory. MSU held Ramapo to 17 points in the second half. For Ramapo, Moore tallied a team high 13 points while she grabbed four rebounds and collected four blocks and four steals. Henderson added seven points off the bench while Haspel and Kerri Kosakowski each contributed with five points a piece.
Three players scored in double figures for the Red Hawks. Aquino led the team with 17 points while Melissa Tobie and Nicosia Henry each scored ten of their own.
The Roadrunners return to action when they travel to the College of Saint Elizabeth on December 15th for a 1pm game.
