Box Score Mahwah, NJ:  The #8/10 ranked Red Hawks of Montclair State University, behind 18 points from Shalette Brown, defeated the Ramapo College women's basketball team, 79-56 tonight at the Bradley Center.  With the New Jersey Athletic Conference victory, MSU remains undefeated in the conference at 13-0, and overall at 21-0.  Ramapo falls to 15-6 overall and 8-4 in the conference.

Brown shot 9-12 from the field and pulled down nine rebounds, leading the Red Hawks to the 23-point victory in Mahwah.  Melissa Tobie sank 17 points of her own, and collected 11 rebounds for the double-double, while Taylor Jeffers and Kelly Williams each recorded 11 points in the win.  MSU went 28-80 (35%) as a team.

The Red Hawks spent the first five plus minutes of the game working their way to a 16-2 advantage, after Nicosia Henry nailed a jump shot to start the game, and Jeffers put away a two-point goal of her own at 14:23, to take the 14-point lead.  The Roadrunners responded with a 10-0 run, sparked by a three-pointer from Hannah Jensen, and capped off with a layup from Jackie Jerkovich, to come within four.  But Montclair responded with a 10-0 run of their own to again go ahead 14, 26-12, with 7:43 on the clock.  Brown would give the Red Hawks their biggest lead of the half at 3:51, after a jumper would spread their advantage to 40-17.  A final push from the Roadrunners in the final minutes would close the gap to 19 points, with Montclair leading 44-25 heading into the intermission.  The Red Hawks shot a combined 17-47 (36%) in the first 20 minutes of play, holding an edge over Ramapo's 10-28 (36%).  Montclair forced 15 Ramapo turnovers in the half, scoring 23 of their 44 halftime points off of turnovers.  Brown and Tobie combined for 26 first half points and Tobie pulled down a team high eight rebounds.  Ramapo's Jerkovich and Jensen each put away eight points for the Roadrunners.

Despite a more evenly played second half, Montclair's halftime lead was too much for the Roadrunners to overcome.  Montclair would push to a 26-point, 57-31 lead, after Jeffers hit a two-point goal with 14:14 on the clock, before the Roadrunners strung together eight points to MSU's one, to come within 19, 39-58, with 12:33 left in the game.  A three-point goal from Williams put MSU ahead 22, and the Red Hawks never looked back closing out the game with the 79-56 win.  MSU shot a combined 11-33 (33%) in the final 20 minutes of play.  Williams collected eight points and Brown chipped in six, while Ramapo combined shooting 10-24 (42%).
