MOORE LEADS RAMAPO TO 7TH STRAIGHT

Box Score Mahwah, NJ:  Junior Micaela Moore collected 21 points leading the Ramapo College women's basketball team to a 66-54 victory over the Scarlet Raptors of Rutgers Camden today.  With the win in the New Jersey Athletic Conference match-up, the Lady Roadrunners improve to 14-4 overall, 7-3 in the conference, earning their seventh straight victory.

Moore shot 7-15 from the field and collected ten rebounds for the double-double, while Jackie Jerkovich netted 18 points in the game.  The Roadrunners combined shooting 42% with 22 field goals on 53 attempts.  Faith Flannery contributed 11 to the win.

Ramapo jumped out to a five-point lead, 7-2, with 17:22 on the clock after Jerkovich opened the game with a three-pointer and Flannery and Moore sank a jumper and free throws respectively.  Rutgers Camden quickly responded with a 5-0 run, sparked by a three from Monica Burch, and capped off with two free throws from Burch, to tie the game for the first time, 7-7.  The Roadrunners strung together six straight points to take a 13-7 advantage, before a layup from Lillian Chukwueze closed the gap to four points.  The two teams traded baskets before a three-point goal from Rutgers Camden's Brittany Turner, with 9:02 on the clock, put the Scarlet Raptors within three points, 16-19.  Just under three minutes later, a jump shot from Chukwueze would close the gap, 20-21, and a three-point basket from Alex Gravinese, with 4:07 on the clock, would knot the game at 23.  Burch put the Scarlet Raptors on top for the first time in the game, 25-23 with 2:51 to play.  Rutgers Camden would hold the lead for the final minutes taking a 27-25 edge heading into the locker room.  Rutgers Camden combined hitting 8-32 (25%) from the field, behind a 10-28 (36%) shooting performance from the Roadrunners.  Ramapo caused eight Rutgers Camden turnovers and committed ten in the half.  The two teams each pulled down 22 rebounds.  Jerkovich led all scorers with eight points and Burch, Turner, and Gravinese each collected seven for the Scarlet Raptors.

A jump shot from Tina Croxton put Rutgers Camden up, 29-25 to start the second half, and a jump shot from Ramapo's Kelly Haspel at 15:56, tied the game for the third time at 31-31.  With the game knotted at 35, with just over 12 minutes to play, Moore sparked her own 7-2 run, capped off with an and-one play, to give the Roadrunners a 40-37 lead.  A three-point goal from Alex Koutras at the 9:31 minute mark, put the Scarlet Raptors on top once again, 42-41, before the two teams traded a few baskets, with Jerkovich nailing a shot from behind the arc for a 46-45 Ramapo lead with just under eight minutes to play.  Rutgers Camden would take their final lead of the game at 7:36, with a jump shot from Chukwueze.  Jerkovich sparked a 9-0 Ramapo run for a 56-47 lead, capped off by a two-point goal from Moore, before a five-point run capped off with free throws from Jerkovich, gave Ramapo a 12-point advantage, 61-49, with 1:49 on the clock.  Ramapo held on for the final minutes taking the 66-54 victory in Mahwah.  Moore sunk 17 second half points and Jerkovich collected ten.  The team went 12-25 (48%) while Rutgers Camden sank 12-35 (34%).  Chukwueze led Rutgers Camden with seven second half points.

On the day, Rutgers Camden combined hitting 20-67 (30%) with Turner leading the way with 13 points, shooting 5-15.  Chukwueze sank 11 points and recorded a double-double with 11 rebounds.

The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, January 23rd when they travel to Kean University for a 6pm tip.
