RAMAPO DOWNS NJCU IN NJAC ACTION

Box Score Mahwah, NJ:  Jackie Jerkovich led the Ramapo College women's basketball team to a 66-56 NJAC victory over rival New Jersey City University tonight at the Bradley Center. The Roadrunners improve to 13-4 overall, 6-3 in the NJAC while the Gothic Knights fall to 3-13 overall, 1-8 in the NJAC.

Jerkovich led the Roadrunners with 20 points and six assists in the game as she nailed three three-pointers.

The Gothic Knights got on the board first in the game, 2-0 on a jumper by Ashley Vasquez with 19:20 before Ramapo's Kelly Haspel drained a three to take a 3-2 lead with 18:59. Ramapo stretched their lead to nine, 13-4 as they went on a 10-2 run capped off by a jumper by Tierney Henderson with 12:51 on the clock. The Gothic Knights hit back to back three pointers to shrink the lead to four, 14-10 (11:07) before Ramapo went back up by nine, 19-10 with a Henderson jumper at 7:56. NJCU cut the lead to four, 16-20 with a jumper by Jade Medley (5:33) before Ramapo went on a 7-0 run to take an 11 point lead, 27-16 (3:01) capped off by two made foul shots from Faith Flannery.   NJCU went on a 7-2 run to close the half and shrink the Ramapo lead to six, 29-23, heading into the locker room.
Ramapo shot 34% (9-26) from the floor in the first half and 57% (4-7) from beyond the three point line. They also shot 63% (7-11) from the foul line while they collected eight steals and forced 16 Gothic Knight turnovers.

Ramapo controlled the lead in the second half as they led, 59-43, with 6:30 to go in the game. NJCU went on a 10-0 run capped off by an and one play from Ashley Vazquez, 60-53, with 3:16 on the clock before Alex Milne hit a big shot for the Roadrunners with 2:32 on the clock to stay up, 62-53. The Roadrunners would hold onto the ten point lead, 66-56, to earn their sixth NJAC win of the season.

Ramapo shot 46% (19-41) from the field in the game and 71% (22-32) from the foul line. Flannery netted 12 points and four assists. Kelly Haspel contributed with 11 points while Micaela Moore posted seven points and seven rebounds.

The Roadrunners return to action when they host NJAC rival Rutgers-Camden University on Saturday at 1:00pm.
