Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's lacrosse team fell to Skyline rival Saint Joseph's College (LI) today at the Athletic Center, 14-11. The Roadrunners drop to 0-2 overall, 0-1 in the Skyline while the Golden Bears (1-4, 1-0) pick up their first win of the 2012 season.
The Golden Eagles raced out to a 7-0 lead before the Roadrunners got on the board in the first half with a goal by
Adrianna Tepedino off a free position shot with 14:42 remaining in the half.
Colleen Steel teamed up with Tepedino for their second goal of the game before Tepedino and
Amanda Barretta accounted for two more goals. Ramapo would head into halftime down 9-4.
Steel ripped a shot into the back of the net to cut the lead to five, 10-5 in the opening minutes of the second half off a pass from Tepedino before the Roadrunners scored four straight goals to come within one, 10-9, capped off by a goal from
Teresa Gustafson on a free position shot with 16:57 to go in the game.
Karalyn Tetelman kept the Golden Eagles in the lead with unassisted goal before Ramapo would tie the game at 11 with back to back goals from Barretta. Jackie Myers would score the eventual game winner for the Golden Eagles off a pss from Tetleman, 12-11 before they scored two more goals to take a 14-11 lead from Lisa Terry.
The two teams recorded 24 shots while the Golden Eagles had a slight lead in draw controls, 15-12. Colleen Fitzsimons posted the win in goal for St. Joseph's with three total saves.
For the Roadrunners, Steel scored three goals and recorded one assist while Tepedino added two goals and three assists. Barretta tallied a team high four goals while
Amanda Ferry and Gustafson each added a goal.
The Roadrunners will return to action on Monday, March 12th when they travel to New Paltz at 4:00 PM.
